Out With The Old

  • Dec. 31st, 2009 at 5:55 PM
I bring you greetings and a fond farewell to 2009 from a familiar stranger....

I'm sorry so many of the shots are similar....I was trying to get a good idea of who this boy is, what his attitude is, etc. through the photos, and it was one of those shots where fortunately I ended up liking a lot of what I took!

And one with a bit of the lovely old Savannah street I live on now...

The blue eyes are a size too big, I think, and I didn't have any other wig that fits him without looking ridiculous, but I think I was able to change his mood and look a good bit with different eyes and restyled hair.  He seems very lost and forlorn to me.  I'm still trying to figure out who he is and what his personality is like.  I think I might keep him blonde haired and blue eyed, and he's a modern-day boy.  That's all I know.  So far as names, I think I might go for naming after one of the streets here in Savannah, like Jasper, or St. Julian, the one I live on.  If anyone has suggestions or thoughts I'd love to hear them.  For now I've just been calling him "Stranger."

I originally pulled out Aurora to do a photoshoot with this afternoon, but I decided I really wanted to trying working with him instead.  I'd pretty much decided selling him would be my best bet, and I'm still not 100% against that, but I do love this doll, and he'd be the perfect companion to a Sleetwealth Briar, should I ever actually manage to acquire one (hoping to someday!)

Weebie also sends his New Year's greetings!

Time to recap eh?
2009 )
Final total: 3 (if we count halfs) out of 9 and 1 maybe 2.5 out of 5. Good job. I should probably stop making resolutions.

But since I love torturing myself:
1. A new journal. This user name never really meant anything, I just had it around when I was trying out a doll journal. I'm thinking [info]idleoracle or [info]hushedhouse or something. Haven't really decided but open to suggestion. Hopefully a fresh start will give me a jump on the new year.
2. Ezzzrrraaaaaaaaa! D: I miss this boy so much. He's been a floating head since April and all attempts to save up and re-buy his body have been sabotaged.
3. I'm actually pretty hesitant to make any more doll related goals as I'm doubtful my finances will fair any better this year. But if they do start looking up a tiny or Souldoll Chantal is on the wish list.
4. Get on some sort of take or draw a picture everyday schedule.
some non-doll
5. Continue the patio gardening endeavors. Bit of a setback here when we left everything out in the freeze but now we know. ^_^;
6. Get a fish tank set up again. I miss my fish.

Eh that's all, try and make it easy on myself this year. I'll update again when I've decided what my new journal will be and those of you who care to can start jumping ship.

Hope you're having a good New Year!

So I might need to do another order after those arrive :P

Edit: Oh and Happy New Year!!!

ARCADIA DOLLS FTW!

  • Dec. 30th, 2009 at 6:43 PM
OMG. I just ordered an outfit from Arcadia Dolls!!!!! =D

Wow. I've dreamed about those clothes for so long, can't believe I'll actually own some! I ordered the outfit from the Twilight Garden Collection. Omg, Myliex is gunna look sooo freakin adorable! *squee!*

http://arcadiadolls.com/store/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=4

*happy dance!*
That collection makes me feel like I'm reliving my childhood with Kirsten Larson from American Girl. =P Kirsten (and Molly) were my favorites... and omg, American Girl is discontinuing Kirsten! DAMN MATTEL, DAMN YOU!

...oh boo, DoA is down. Who will I share my Arcadia Dolls high with? =P

Someone give me patients, the wait for the clothes is about 3-8weeks, according to the site.
Anyone have any experience with them? How long did the order take?

Since Lotte has her hippie side, he is also going to be a bit hippie-ish, or just a bit bohemian, nerdy, a bit awkward, likes books and nature so he's kinda a science nerd ;D I so need to get him glasses.. and some brown shoes! Not any shiny black shoes for him, nope!
So the doll mold that would be perfect for him is DollShe Rosen. And DollShe bodies are the most poseable and he needs to have awkward poses! xD
And like Olga pointed out: it is my birthday next friday, so why not!!?!?!?

Merry Xmas!

  • Dec. 28th, 2009 at 8:47 PM
Hey hey!
Xmas was wonderful. It consisted of friends, family, lots of laughs, goodies!, skiing!, sledding, and a beautiful David Yurman necklace from my sweetheart.
And.... I got a new camera! Hurray! No more cell phone pictures for me.

I'll have to have a proper foto shoot soon, but for now, I'm just lazy. =P

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

so i'll be sailing on.

I used to be fearless when I wrote. It was all so much better and more creative two years ago. I feel like I've used up all my good ideas and characters on projects I can't go back to. But enough of that, I think. It's time to let caution meet wind and kick the gears back to whatever they were cruising on in the past.

Taking an oppourtunity to list my resolutions as I am not making any towards bettering my memory, and therefore will likely forget before now and New Year's:

I shall be facing 2010 with newfound vigor, vim, verbosity, valiance and whatsits. Cutting swaths of glory with my upped chin, I will take the world, and at least two neighboring planets, by storm. I will not sleep so much, and I will find an artist to collaborate on a comic book. I will find a guy who's sugarlumps have already dropped, and I will not mind if he has a Southern accent. I will write Gavin Free a love letter entirely in iambic pantameter/haiku, just for giggles, and at least two lines will be dedicated to his crazy hair. I will swear less, wear more dresses, and at the very least attempt to keep my desk uncluttered. I will improve my cooking and stop playing down my culinary skills (unless humorously relevant). My alcohol consumption rules will remain what they are, reguardless of location and company. An instrument will be learned, and I shall take classes or whatever measures are necessary to learn to read/write music. I will finish that damn musical. I will write about my childhood and be neither afraid nor ashamed. I won't dismiss my enchantment with the idea of working for the BBC until 2012--and only then if the world really does end. I will do at least one stand-up comedy performance and try out for a play. My water intake will be increased. If I can afford it, I will with my mother to Ireland. If she puts it off until next year, I will go back to Italy for the summer semester. I will remember who I was, cultivate who I am, and I will be entirely unapologetic for it all.

I will get something published.

In conclusion: Osteoporosis, bananahammock, pants. Now that that's out of my system, I'm off to do research for the pilot [info]adrastiea and [info]uzumakisama encouraged me to write. Why not? The worst that could come of it is rejection, and I'm as stalwart as a mountain goat in magnetic cleats (though much better dressed from the ankles up).

Last week I finally had my first enkai (office drinking party)!
it was fun, wild and crazy
lots of drinking and talking, even the teachers that I don't normally talk to came chatting with me.

It was good. )

Then on the next day, I had a small Christmas party in my tiny apartment.
[info]pinkdog , Yuki and Akiko came over.
We had KFC and cake a Japanese Christmas party :D

Ohh I also made Christmas presents for my teachers.
card & cookies

I put them in little cute bags and handed out to each teacher, it think they liked it a lot :)

Okay time to finish the nengajo!

Yrie-woes

  • Dec. 26th, 2009 at 9:17 PM
Or I don't know woes ;3

I've thought of my Yrie and managed to create a little bit different personality for her. Enne is already the household's simple block, honestly - she just collects wishes, takes care of them and the rest of the time she just sits on the chair, looks damn cute, munches cookies and says "Derp?". But for Yrie I wanted something different, so it's starting to look like she's precocious, spunky, slightly annoying, talks a lot and asks lots of questions and is quite pampered daddy's little girl. Also she's always well dressed in frills and princess dresses, I think Meital has too much time on her hands in Uncle K's household >_<

I've also thought of changing her name since Kuje...well, I dunno. So far the best one has been Yona which is Hebrew and means, well, uh, a dove. How CLEVER. But I like the name :3

Here's hoping Soom won't ship Yries until the end of January. I want my salary before I can release her from the evil hands of our custom office + I haven't got an official ID. Yes, I tossed accidentally my passport away when I moved and haven't managed to get a new one, and yes, it's been almost two months since this was noticed. I'm so fast, also, as well as clever :P

Luckily I haven't found any that'd be like "THAT's the one!!". Like all the Mecha Angel boys seem to have something in their face molds that I don't like. I've been also eyeing on DollShe boys again -___- Saint and Bernard are my favorite, but they have too small heads compared to Lotte's gigantic ball head! Rosen might be nice, but the DollShe boys seem to be too pricey.

So, my money is safe for now ;)
